Monktus return with gigs in June and July at Madness
and the 13th

from sunny Belfast. Kelwan are also playing a Baby Tiger gig in
Edinburgh on the 29th.
[14.03.06 / All quiet on the Monktus front]
We've all been quite busy over the past few months so Monktus
haven't been up to much. However we've got some new songs to get
finished and hope to be gigging again soon.

and The Valour. Unfortunately Andrew
is away in Mexico for the summer, however Liam from the fabulous

We're playing the Subway Cowgate in Edinburgh on Tuesday 22nd March,
it's a fundraising gig and it starts at 7.30pm. See the live

[09/03/05 / Fresh Air]
Monktus will be appearing on Fresh Air this Saturday morning (12.03.05).
We'll be playing on Pasquale Iannone's show Long Distance Call from
7-9am. You can hear Fresh Air in the Edinburgh area on 87.7 FM,
for more details see freshair.org.uk.

We're playing at The Local in Livingston on Tuesday 1 March with
the Rob Thomson Band. Should be fun, more details on the live

Tickets for the gig at Stratchclyde Union are £6 on the door but
we have lots of free tickets for anybody that wants one. Get in

We're playing with Chikinki
on 11 Feb as part of the National
Student Music Awards at the Strathclyde Union. Haider Zafer
and Serotone are also playing, we'll put more details up when we

[23/01/05 / We Will Rock You]
Monktus play the QM again on Tue 1 Feb as part of People and Planet's
We Will Rock You fundraising gig. The proceeds will go to various
charities including Tsunami Relief and One In Four, among others,
as part of Glasgow University Student Festival. We'll be joined
by the fabulous Paperback
Throne, Astronauts
Fail and Squealing

[14/12/04 / National Student Music Awards]
Monktus are through to the final 30 bands in the National
Student Music Awards. We play their Glasgow gig on Friday 11
February at Strathclyde University Union. We'll give you more details
on voting and stuff when we have them.

The ECA gig is £3 and doors are 7.30. You can also buy tickets for
the QM gig on 9 Dec by clicking the button below. Tickets are £2
in advance including a free badge!
[02/11/04 / Gigs]
Monktus will be playing next in Edinburgh at ECA's Wee Red Bar on
Thu 18 November with There Is A Noise I Know Which Can Only Grow Louder
and another band, more details soon. We'll also be back at the QM
on Thu 9 December and the 13th Note on Sunday 16 January.
[14/10/04 / Moof]
For those who have seen us play, you might remember a song called
And The Dogcow Went Moof. I did a quick demo version the
other month and an mp3 of it found it's way to Apple Computer Inc
(to find out the relevance, go
here). Anyway it turns out they liked it, which is nice to know.
We recorded a new version with the whole band recently and hope to
get it finished soon.

Monktus are playing the QM again on 9 December with Pollen and some
other bands TBC. Raw is on every Thursday and is really rather good.

We're playing at Bannermans, Edinburgh on Saturday 11 Sep with The
Medicine Show and Delta Mainline. Tickets £4 on the door.

No gigs booked at the moment but we're hoping to be playing Carlisle,
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Galashiels (!) soon. You can also buy our CD

[06/06/04 / Gigness]
The 13th Note gig was rather great; photos up soon. Monktus are playing
next in Edinburgh at Whistle Binkie's on June 22 and in Glasgow at
the Hogshead with Astronauts Fail on the 24th. We'll also be up in
Dundee courtesy of The A Forest on July 15. There's also a couple
of new songs up on the music page.
[27/04/04 / Gigness]
Unfortunately Astronauts Fail can't make our gig at the Note but fear
not, we'll now be playing with the mighty Troika
(Too Many Fireworks Records).
If that's not quite exciting enough, we'll still be playing with the
Fail but on June 24 at The Hogshead. If you can't wait quite that
long to see Monktus, we'll be through in Edinburgh at L'Attache on
May 14. More details on the live page.
We'll also be recording again soon; at SAE Glasgow and Chamber Studios,
Edinburgh. And I'm told that we've been asked to contribute a song
to a skate film, more details when we get them.

The A Forest
have confirmed for the 13th Note gig to join the bill with us and
Astronauts
Fail, we might even have a fourth band playing too. Unfortunately
Andrew can't make the gig due to some sort of junket so the lovely
Nelson from The
Paperback Throne will be filling in.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the QM gig. We've got the Note
booked on Wed 2 June, we'll be playing with Astronauts
Fail and someone else to be confirmed soon. "Nein, monkeys" is
currently getting mixed down in London and will be available to buy
from the site soon.

[14/02/04 / Stuff]
Looks like the gig at the 13th Note isn't happening unfortunately
but we're trying to get something else in March. We're still playing
the QM on Thursday 18th March with the fabulous Squealing Filth. Got
the multitracks back from the session a few weeks back, we'll get
some mp3s up soon. The band are doing some more recording at the beginning
of next month and the CD will involve monkeys in some sort of way.
